Podcast: Too Many Medications - The Role of PTs, OTs, and SLPs In Polypharmacy

Is your patient taking too many or the wrong type of medications? Polypharmacy is so common in post-acute care settings that we often are more surprised when a patient is NOT at risk of polypharmacy than when they are. Rehabilitation therapists typically perform medication reviews, but guidance on actions to take next when polypharmacy is present is often lacking. This podcast-style course discusses best practices in rehab therapists' management of polypharmacy with practical applications of concepts using real patient examples. The impact of polypharmacy on patient outcomes and necessary actions to take to address overuse, underuse, or misuse of medications, including how to communicate with healthcare providers is discussed.
